Do you need to get your files organized? Why not use classification folders. Classification folders allow you to subdivide your files within the file folder. They come in 1, 3, or 6 parts. This will allow you to have up to six individual separations, of your file, for efficient classification of your files, within the folder. The folders come with a metal fastener, which allows you to securely fasten the paper to the individual sections of the folder. Some of the new products have a coated fastener, minimizing the chance of cutting your finger on the fastener. Also, coated fasteners protect the paper from tearing when inserting the paper into the fastener. To fasten the paper in the divider' simply bend over the 2 metal prongs and the paper remains firmly in place. The folders are also available in different expansions so a substantial amount of paper can be held within the folder. Expansion sizes are: 1", 2", and 3" capacity. Different tab styles are available so that the information can be easily seen in the file drawer.

The tab styles are referred to as straight cut, 1/3 cut, or 2/5 cut. The different tab styles can be selected depending on the amount of information that needs to be put on the tab. This type of material is selected when there is frequent access of the files.

They resist tearing and can be handled roughly. Pressboard folders will provide years of service, but are a more expensive folder. There are also a variety of manila folders in different weight or point sizes. These are more cost effective, but will not provide the durability of pressboard folders. This type of folder is very popular for archived files, or folders that are accessed infrequently. Folders are available in letter size for 8 ½ x 11" sheets of paper, or legal size for 8 ½ x 14" sheets of paper. Legal size is popular for legal documents such as deeds, contracts, and real estate forms. They are popular in attorney, real estate, and government offices. The folders can be color coded and are available in a multitude of available colors including; red, blue, dark blue, green , gray and manila. Color coding allows you to easily categorize your files. Although colored folders are more expensive, the time saved trying to find the right folder is well worth the additional cost. Folders are also available in recycled material.
